Matthew A. Karlyn
Matthew A. Karlyn (Boston and New York) is a partner and co-chair of the firm’s Technology Industry Team as well as a member of the Technology Transactions & Outsourcing and Private Equity & Venture Capital Practices. Matt is at the forefront of technology and has been a technology and licensing lawyer for the past 19 years. He regularly advises companies on all matters involving the commercialization of intellectual property, licensing initiatives, subscription-based economics, and the procurement and use of technology in business. Matt is also a go-to resource on technology and licensing for mergers and acquisitions, as well as private equity and venture capital financing.
Christopher J. McKenna
Christopher J. McKenna (Boston) is a co-chair of the firm’s Electronics Practice and the Technology Industry Team. Chris’ intellectual property protection experience involves all aspects of patent protection and strategic counseling, including establishing patent positions for startups, patent portfolio development for emerging technology companies, and worldwide patent portfolio management for larger companies. He also provides IP due diligence for merger and acquisition transactions; patent portfolio diligence and strategic counseling during the venture capital investment process; and review and counseling of intellectual property licensing, assignment and purchase agreements.
Todd Rumberger (Silicon Valley) is a co-chair of the firm’s Technology Industry Team. Todd focuses his practice on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital, and Internet, mobile, connected car, software, telecommunications, digital media, health tech, and financial services companies through all stages of their growth. Mr. Rumberger counsels his corporate clients, ranging from start-up, emerging growth stage and venture backed, to public domestic and foreign companies, on a wide variety of matters ranging from formation, capitalization, key executive employment and general employment issues, and corporate governance, to early (convertible debt and seed preferred) and later stage venture capital, venture debt, debt and public equity financings and offerings, strategic partner, reseller, and similar commercial agreements. He has broad transactional experience representing public and private companies, and private equity buyers and sellers involved in mergers and acquisitions and financings.
